Shipping Center Lead
 

Job Description

As a Shipping Center Lead, you will assist in manage a team of delivery drivers, oversee daily operations, and ensure on-time performance. Responsibilities include monitoring the loading process, conducting training, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, reconciling receipts, and ensuring KPIs are met. You will also handle communication with the Manager, evaluate driver performance, and drive a route if needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Shipping Center Supervisor in managing and supporting a team of delivery drivers
  • Assist Shipping Center Supervisor with any communications, personnel, or incidents that may become an issue
  • Perform delivery duties as needed while serving as backup support to Shipping Center Supervisor.
  • Communicate emergency situations, accidents, or any unsafe acts that may disrupt service
  • Conduct daily huddles to communicate expectations
  • Observe loading process and validate piece counts before drivers leave
  • Monitor performance and adjust to ensure customer commitments are met
  • Reconcile daily receipts and inventory , ensure company standards are met (KPIs), conduct ride-alongs and on the road observations, etc
  • Deliver training of prescribed policies and procedures 
  • Maintain maintenance and cleanliness of all vehicles
  • Must be able to drive a route in the event a driver is unable

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience managing people performance and leading others
  • Experience in the transportation industry, specifically final-mile delivery
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing business and environmental conditions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to pass a Drug Test and background screening 
  • Able to reach, bend, lift, pull and push up to 75lbs
  • Valid drivers license
